Beschreibung

Preparation OISC will provide detailed proposals for each individual on receipt of their application. A needs analysis will be sent to them.

Objectives The course is aimed at professional men and women who wish to develop their language skills further for their work.

Participants may choose to take all lessons in General English (at the appropriate level) or General English, mornings only) and Business English in the afternoons.Topics include:General English:

The course will includes:

- developing command of written and spoken English in the context of the workplace.

- grammar clinics

- extending vocabulary and pronunciation

- developing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills

- using resources and , media (e.g. video, newspapers, computers, the internet Follow-up

At the end of the course the participant will have:

- improved their language skills

- received a feedback questionnaire

- set up email links with their tutors for advice

Tutors and Teaching methods

The teachers are all experienced teachers with both a degree and qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. The senior teachers are:

Oxford International Study Centre is situated in the very centre of Oxford, surrounded by the Colleges of the University. The company was established in 2016, and is the parent company was established in London in 1976. OISC is registered in England as a Limited Company, Registration number 5828476.

The Directors are Robert Marsden MBA, FCA (Eton College and INSEAD), and Carolyn Llewelyn MA, who graduated from St. Anne’s College, University of Oxford, in Modern and Medieval Languages. They have both worked in international education for over twenty years.

OISC is accredited by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (grade 1 in all categories : “outstanding”), and has UKVI Tier 4 Status. We are also members of COBIS (Council for British International Schools), NAFSA, EAIE (European Association for International Education), EATP (European Association of Training Providers) and of the European Council of International Schools. The programmes for teachers are recognised by the EU Erasmus Plus initiative.

Connections with the University of Oxford are close:

  • The International Director, the Principal, and many senior teachers studied at Oxford or Cambridge.
  • Many programmes are held in the University, especially in summer, when older students may also reside there. The University is also used for professional training groups year-round.
  • Programmes sometimes include lectures in the University of Oxford. Participants over 17 years staying for over three months can join the Oxford University student union and debating society(www.oxford-union.org)
  • Guest lecturers from the University are normally included in professional training programmes.

OISC provides high quality year round and short programmes, including:

  • Preparation for Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell group universities;
  • Pre-University programmes with a choice of over 30 subjects . The programmes are one or two years and students take ALevel or Foundation Level qualifications. The Foundation programmes are recognised by many British Universities;
  • Pre-Masters programmes including preparation for GMAT and GRE;
  • Short vacation programmes for ALevel;(I)GCSE, IB, and other international examinations
  • Retake programmes for (I)GCSE, ALevel and IB;
  • English Language (IELTS,TOEFL,Cambridge exams);
  • Academic Enrichment and Career Development programmes, which include the opportunity to observe professionals working in a variety of fields,
  • Semester or Year in Oxford programmes (bespoke);
    • Preparation for British Boarding Schools.

OICT provides tailor made programmes in a wide range of fields, which include seminars led by academics, professionals from commerce and industry, and guest lecturers from the University. These programmes are normally held in the University.

They include:

  • Short, bespoke training programmes for professional men and women. We have welcomed participants from most areas of commerce including Bankers, Business Managers, Accountants, Lawyers, Tourism and Hospitality managers, and Local Government officials.
  • Programmes for teachers and educational managers (these are recognised by the EU Erasmus Plus project).

Both OISC and OICT provide:

  • A high level of pastoral care for students, including personal tutors and regular reports.
  • Flexibility in course content and duration , with programmes which are often tailor-made to meet the requirements of the overseas partner.
  • Extensive experience of working with students and professional men and women from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
